The steel frame barn will function as a dog training facility and contain a small private residence. The challenge was how to merge these two programs in a way that is efficient and accommodating for both. The building is located “off the grid” in rural Halifax County, North Carolina. The client was interested in utilizing solar energy, geothermal energy and radiant floors to efficiently heat and cool his home & training facility. A large clerestory provides ample daylighting. The owner is eager to move in and enjoy his new, well-lit residence and training facility.
